Boston Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1881, is a leading U.S. symphonic ensemble. Known for 20th-century RCA Victor recordings and for Koussevitsky’s premieres of Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, plus Tanglewood.

Paris-born cellist Yo-Yo Ma broke through with 1983’s J.S. Bach: The 6 Unaccompanied Cello Suites. Founder of the Silk Road Ensemble, he’s known for cross-genre collaborations, winning 18 Grammys, including 2017’s Sing Me Home.

Johannes Brahms, born in Hamburg, Germany, was a pivotal Romantic era composer. He masterfully blended classical forms with rich harmonies and lyrical melodies in his symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. Celebrated for works like "Hungarian Dances" and his "Lullaby," he is considered one of classical music's "Three Bs" alongside Bach and Beethoven, leaving an enduring legacy.

Gabriel Fauré, born in Pamiers, France, was a pivotal French composer, organist, and teacher. His elegant, lyrical style bridged late Romanticism and early modern music. Celebrated for works like the "Requiem," "Pavane," and "Cantique de Jean Racine," he profoundly influenced generations as director of the Paris Conservatoire. He is known for his melodic grace and harmonic innovation.

Renaud Capuçon is a French classical violinist and conductor born in Chambéry in 1976. He studied at the Paris Conservatory and in Berlin under Thomas Brandis and Isaac Stern before becoming the concertmaster of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester under Claudio Abbado. He has established an international career as a major soloist and chamber musician, performing with leading orchestras globally, and has served as the artistic director of several prominent classical music festivals as well as the music director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
