Boston Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1881, is a leading U.S. symphonic ensemble. Known for 20th-century RCA Victor recordings and for Koussevitsky’s premieres of Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, plus Tanglewood.
Andris Nelsons is Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Gewandhauskapellmeister of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. A Grammy-winning conductor, he recorded Shostakovich symphonies and Lady Macbeth, earning four Grammys.
Augustin Hadelich is an American-German violinist born in Italy to German parents. Winner of the 2006 Indianapolis International Violin Competition, he won a 2016 Grammy for Dutilleux’s L’Arbre des songes and records for Warner Classics.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, a Russian Romantic composer from Votkinsk, is celebrated for his emotional intensity and melodic beauty. He masterfully blended Russian folk influences with Western traditions. His iconic works include the ballets Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty, alongside the 1812 Overture and Piano Concerto No. 1. His compositions remain beloved globally.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), born in Salzburg, Austria, was a classical child prodigy. He composed over 600 masterpieces across genres like opera, symphony, and chamber music. Known for his elegant, balanced style, his famous works include "The Marriage of Figaro," "Don Giovanni," "The Magic Flute," and Symphony No. 40. He is considered one of Western music's greatest composers.
